Like all Italian cooking, most Tuscan dishes are based on the use of fresh and seasonal ingredients.
Here at Borgo Argiano we believe that time to relax means time to lovingly prepare food using the many local cheeses, fruits, vegetables and herbs
Why not try our own Tenuta Cappellina olive oil and of course accompany your meal with a bottle of Tenuta Cappellina Chianti Classico.
All of our rooms have handmade luxury kitchens and we hope you will enjoy preparing beautiful dishes while you are here. If you require a personal chef, we can even make this available.
Typical Tuscan dishes are often based upon what you find fresh and local at the market each week, making them very easy to prepare and involving few ingredients.
Although food may be simple, it is rich in flavour and often quite filling. You will find the local restaurants serve their meals accompanied by the regional bread: a white, plain, unsalted loaf. The tradition dates back to the 16th century when there was a tax put on salt, changing the way locals made their bread. This tradition of unsalted bread has carried on, it may not be the tastiest, but its real job is to soak up all the leftover juices on your plate, giving it all the flavour it needs!
If you want us to book you a table at a nearby restaurant, we can offer you simple typical Tuscan cuisine, including in the village at the bottom of the hill (why not walk down and we will arrange for them to bring you back).
Alternatively there are many quality restaurants in the surrounding areas catering for all styles, right up to Michelin starred.
